was a lonely journey. While my friends and family were

all the emotions that arise during the writing process.

my scary emotions, yet she compassionately

What Makes The Writer's Oasis So Different?
When it comes to writing, some teachers take a very linear and content specific approach. For example, they teach you story structure so you can structure your story better. Yes, you must learn structure. You must also learn how to develop characters, how to build curiosity, and how to craft better sentences. Among other things.
But what you ALSO must learn is how to value your own writing voice, how to confidently and appropriately share your own stories, and how to embody the courage, self-compassion, and self-acceptance necessary to create really great pieces of writing.
Because great writing always starts on the inside… no matter what your genre.
That’s why each week I share the practical and the spiritual. I’ll teach you how to chunk down your work AND how to improve your emotional immune system so that when you begin to doubt your path, you won’t check out.
I’ll teach you how to map out the steps for your next writing or creative project AND how to publish your work even when you don’t feel ready. I’ll teach you how to test your ideas AND how to deal with time monsters and shadow comforts.
As a writer and author with 30 years of experience, I know how important the brass tacks of writing are. But I also know that what goes on in the inside can be the difference between obscurity and notoriety. And between creative depression and creative expression. I will help you take care of the inside and the outside so you can become the writer you’ve always wanted to be.
“Jennifer Louden has the clarity to see through the smoke screens we use to avoid the true challenges of our lives and our age, the courage to face those challenges herself, and the compassion to help us all face them with her – as a teacher, a guide and a friend. I’ve learned so much from Jen about the essential connection between creativity and change, between savoring and serving."

“You’re a voice of sanity and sincerity in a time when value too often gets canned in the name of ambition. You’re the real deal, Louden, a true teacher, and we seekers get a whole lot of nourishment from your well of wisdom.”

“Jennifer Louden possesses all the qualities I admire as a teacher and a writer. She is fearless about sharing both her wisdom and her vulnerability. She is smart as a whip and employs that intelligence in your service. She listens to her students and her readers with all her heart. Her intention is to serve, serve, serve. She is also incredibly fun to be around! Whenever I am on the receiving end of her work, I am left feeling stronger, kinder, and more fiercely committed to my own path.”

My Heartfelt Promise to You
You know that being planful about your writing, your creativity and your well-being are essential. And that taking the time to reconnect with your truest desires and the full thread of your life is vital to living the life that only you can live.
My guess is you’ve done all of that before. And it worked. Until you stopped doing it… because life got busy. Or something “more important” or more dire got in your way. Or you fell back into the habit of putting everybody else’s before your own creative work.
Totally normal! Owning your own creative projects takes a lot of faith and support. It’s really really difficult to do it alone. So why would you?
In The Writer’s Oasis, we practice the art of beginning again - to focus on our writing, our creative expression, our desires. We lean on the audios and each other to help us remember: our creative work matters!
Each and every day I, and this phenomenal circle of women, will show up for you so you can always show up for yourself and stay on your own side. So you can write and live from a spirit of compassionate grit.
For the price of less than one yoga class a month (two if you live in a small town or buy a season pass :), you’ll be inspired, reminded, galvanized, and supported as you write more, publish more and get your scary sh*t done… in human-scaled and joyful ways.
How much is keeping your writing in a locked drawer costing you?
How much is putting everything else before your own work costing you? How is talking yourself out of submitting your writing or publishing on your blog costing you? How many people are missing out on what you have to teach and share because you keep not becoming the writer you desire to become?
Keeping your work unwritten inside of you - or hidden when you want to connect with readers - can start to feel like a horrible weight of disappointment and sadness and yes, creative depression.
I have been there, my friend, and I am on a mission to help you never be there again.
Please know you can write with more ease, you can live with more verve, you can make friends with and even, sometimes, silence the mean voices in your head. You can create work that matters to you!
And I’d love to help you make that happen.
“The Writer's Oasis is one of the best support structures I have ever invested in. Not least because it's *not* a programme, it's about learning to develop a strong loving self-compassionate relationship with myself. Every week there's a call to listen to with writing prompts, that allows me to sink down and truly recognise and acknowledge my own beautiful messy humanity, whilst also assembling a "human-size" plan - what Jen calls the "pots" - based on the reality of my own energy levels and bandwidth.
It helps me to complete projects as opposed to leaving them half done. The community is one of lively, interested, authentic women who are an inspiration. The hour or so I spend every Sunday with the Writer's Oasis calibrates me for the coming week.”

I hope I get to walk this path with you as you become - and keep becoming - the writer you’ve always dreamed of being. Because those dreams, as goofy as it sounds, make my heart sing right along with yours.
To write is to make sense of the world, to bring it into focus, to write a new and better story. I’m honored to walk this path with you.

About The Writer's Oasis
“Every now and then, life brings you a precious gift that keeps on giving. One of those gifts for me is Jennifer Louden.
Jen’s exuberant spirit, disarming vulnerability and eloquent pen (keyboard) make up a powerful and effervescent surprise in every blog post, book page and speech. A stellar human with a great big heart, any moment with Jen and her words is a golden treasure.”
Laura Berman Fortgang

“Joseph Campbell asked, ‘Where is your bliss station?’ — where you can step outside of practical life and enter the country of your soul. You return with gifts of magic and meaning.
Jennifer Louden’s work is a Bliss Station."
“Curiosity is what brought me to the Oasis, and I stay for the recurring wave of self-compassion, care, and reflection. The permission to ask for what I need and want. The knowing that I am enough, and I can set what that Enough is (mega point here!)... Jen is full of awareness and authenticity as a creative and as a creator. She knows her genius and knows her faults. She trusts her creative thread and is on a wild mission to question it, squeeze it, twist it and milk it in new ways, like a toothpaste tube that is finished but never, really… She brings all the senses to the table, and always surprises with a detail or two as sharp and as focused as a needle. As a creative myself, I love seeing her inspiring process of constant renewal.”
"In these days of information overload, there are certain voices I return to over and over again for their honest, clarity and vision. Jen Louden is one of these voices.”
Painter, author and teacher
"For one hour a week, I join women all over the world in a virtual circle and tune into myself… nurture myself, support myself, better understand myself, and encourage myself in a safe and sacred shared space. From this I gleaned solace, peace, connection, and creative inspiration. Priceless!”
Life coach, retreat leader, and author
“I heard about the Oasis at a time of major life change. I had recently retired and felt adrift. There was a desire to connect, to feel more alive and to explore my creative longings. The idea of checking in with myself weekly and doing some self-reflective journaling appealed to me, but was not something I wanted to do on my own. I felt the need for guidance and inspiration.
The Oasis experience was more than I had imagined and I found myself looking forward to our weekly check-ins. The power and support of the group, the depth of experience, inspiration, enthusiasm and permission that Jen brought was impressive and life-changing for me.
After experiencing the Oasis over a period of about a year, I feel stronger, more self-aware, more at peace; I notice that I am kinder to myself and others, and I feel hopeful about being able to create and feel more confident that I can contribute something authentic and meaningful to life, to my community. I am interested in so many things now, and I’m putting myself out there more often.
It really is hard to put into words, but my life feels deeper and richer. Before the Oasis, I felt like I had put myself into a small, restrictive box, and after the Oasis, I feel a sense of blossoming freedom and an openness to possibility. I feel more engaged with life and I’m learning to honor my desires and yearnings and allow them to guide me toward deeper fulfillment. What an adventure this has been, and more to come!”
Retired from fundraising for a non-profit hospital foundation
“Jen, it’s hard to put into words the benefit of working with you in the Oasis. There is a profound difference between the OHMYGODIHAVESO MUCHTODOIN SOLITTLETIME approach from last year and the experience I just had with my work in Nepal – we completed the biggest art order we have ever had, launched our sanitary pad industry, trialed several new jewelry designs, learned a heap of new techniques, meditated together, and did our regular polymer stuff! Yet is all felt so easy and natural and flowing! Even in the run up to this trip, I noticed I was more calm.
The weekly Oasis sessions helped me to establish a Sunday night Thinking about the Week ahead that is a whole lot more nourishing and choice empowering than making a To-Do list. The chance to tap into my desires for the week ahead, the experiences I wanted or needed, the flavours – it was amazing!”
Artist, activist, creativity evangelist, and world traveler
“The weekly question of ‘What one step can I take?’ that Jen offers at the end of each call has been a life-changer! It has truly helped me move toward creating the life that I want. I have gotten so much more accomplished using this tool – both in jobs that needed doing, but also in putting self-care into my weekly planning. My new mantra is ‘Just one small step.’
I looked forward to our Friday morning ‘gatherings’ – I grabbed my journal, often lit a candle, and closed the door. I did not feel resistance to showing up for the calls. That said, I had plenty of resistance to following through with the things I was learning! Taking time for my self-care has been the biggest challenge. Again, Jen’s modeling, her honesty and authenticity helped me recognize my resistance AND remind myself that I could return ‘home to myself’ again and again…and again. The more I have practiced this, the easier it’s gotten.
The check-ins with Jen and the community take me further than I could go on my own. I will be forever grateful!”
Former Head of School, Bainbridge Island
“The Oasis is a gentle and positive respite where you can reflect on your needs and desires, and identify small steps towards living a life that’s more aligned.
It’s not a program with lots of steps to take and assignments to complete. I don’t think I had realized how much I was actively pushing away emotions and thoughts that I didn’t want to think about; being able to comfort myself with a gesture and ‘this too’ when those came up really helped me ride those waves.”

"One of the things I love about The Writer’s Oasis is the flexibility. Over the years, I’ve considered joining this or that workshop or writing intensive or program – and on occasion, I have. But periods of intense writing and sharing, followed by a complete drop-off in community after the end of the program, has not worked for me.
The Writer’s Oasis provides me with some consistency – not just in my work and my writing, but in all areas of life… What surprises me most about The Writer’s Oasis, are what comes through my pen from the writing prompts Jen gives us that seem WAY out there. I may not always understand her prompts, but they let me needle deep into my soul sometimes, to tease out something I’ve been tossing around in my subconscious.
As an academic, and a scientist, I always have a tendency to want to be hyper-organized and ultra-orderly. But life is chaos abound! The Writer’s Oasis prompts me to spend time each week with what IS, and I’ve noticed my tolerance for chaos and loose-ends has risen.”

“I'm SO happy to have joined The Writer’s Oasis, as I've recently relocated to a new town and state where my husband has a new job and I don't know anyone! I'm longing for creative community with you lovely ladies, Jen's delightful insights and teachings, and a sacred space to re-calibrate as I birth new projects into the world.
Thank you for creating this Jen. The Writer’s Oasis is one of the most precious and beautiful things on the internet. Truly, I mean that!"
Artist, writer and creator of Flourish with Painting & Creativity
“I love the Oasis for its poetry, prompts, and wisdom, the weekly checking in and reminders to take care of my hungers and desires, which I am prone to tend to after everything else (which often means not at all).”

“I like being part of The Writer’s Oasis. I love being reminded to check in with myself, the delicious poetry Jen shares, being part of thoughtful women seekers, and being reminded to always begin again. I had been stuck for a long time.
The Writer’s Oasis helps me figure out what I really want and how to inch there. I'm grateful. It's a bit like weekly hugs between good friends, as well as modeling for me how to be a good friend to myself too.”
“In my experience, no one holds space more powerfully and tenderly than Jen Louden. That she can create this nourishing, caring space over a phone line is incredible. I joined the first Oasis at a time when I knew I needed a "container" for self-care. I was travelling frequently to take care of my ill father, who has since passed away. I needed a structure, a place, and support. I needed EXACTLY what Jen offered with the Oasis.
Spending time every week at the Oasis grounds me. For that one hour I am totally, completely with myself, exactly as I am. And I am not alone. Feeling accompanied and supported by Jen brings me tremendous peace and comfort. Choosing to join the Oasis, for me, was not about accomplishing a goal or project. It was about choosing to make my self-care a priority.
I have grown in my self-awareness through the Oasis, and I have been supported through grieving the loss of my father and coping with a serious illness of another family member. I am so very, very grateful.”
Community Development Consultant
"It took me a while to join The Writer’s Oasis because I figured it would feel like something else I have to get done. It hasn't been like that at all -- I feel very free to fit it in where I can, and just use the parts that work for me. I find that the Oasis meets me in a very gentle, practical and specific place that helps my whole week go better. There is so much permission here to do things incrementally and that, in my experience, is the ONLY way things actually change or move forward. One of the most unexpected results I’ve had from playing at The Writer’s Oasis is that my to-do lists are shorter than they used to be. Somehow, I've started getting things done more easily, and spending less time listing the things I think I should do later. It's disorienting, but wonderful and reassuring, and I think I can blame it on you and The Writer’s Oasis.
There are so many wonderful things about the Oasis! I love the poems. I love the planning. I love that it creates a place in my week where I think about myself, and how I'm doing, and how I want to live in the upcoming days. In the lightest way possible. I also love how sometimes the writing prompts don't inspire me, and other times I find myself writing exactly -- exactly! -- what I need to understand, and I'm moved to tears that I can still use writing to listen to my own soul, that I can still sometimes find the words that evoke all the layers of meaning and beauty that I meant to convey. It reminds me that I am a writer, and that writing is always there for me.
The Oasis has been such a gentle, light-hearted gift that is there for me every week, and helps me feel just a bit more sane, a bit more effective, and a bit more creative as I move through my days. Over weeks and months it adds up to moving forward in place I've felt stuck before, writing more than I used to, and speaking my mind more readily. It's really been wonderful. Thank you!"

The Weekly Oasis
Every Friday I dive with you into a new theme in the audio retreat that I deliver straight to your inbox – from taking risks to speaking up for yourself to sticking it out to knowing when to quit and so much more.
I also circle back to regular themes and threads to help you keep track of self-care, create and maintain supportive creative habits, keep shadow comforts in check, and so much more. I’m like a personal writing + life coach delivered in a fun weekly retreat.
With meditations, rituals, poetry and my super famous “trickster prompts” you’ll discover answers to questions you didn’t even know you had.
A few of the events coming up soon include a Desire Retreat and themed calls on topics such as beginning again, getting your scary sh*t done, and building your creative practice. During these community calls you also have the chance to ask questions and get some coaching so you can keep moving forward on your projects.
At The Writer’s Oasis we have short writing sessions every week that I record via audio and send to you and 90-minute live writing sessions every month when we write online TOGETHER.
These sessions are proving to be one of the most popular parts of The Writer’s Oasis because they’re helping people move forward on writing projects that have been on their to-do lists for months, years… sometimes even decades!
When it comes to writing, practice and consistency are critical and I offer opportunities each and every week to help you build your most important writing habits. So, even if you’ve struggle in the past to get your writing done, you’ll get writing done each and every week when you join The Writer’s Oasis. These sessions will inspire great ideas and forward momentum on your projects, too!
Maybe your writing will involve an actual project you’re trying to get done. Or maybe your writing will be the writing you do to get clarity on a different type of project or plan altogether. Whatever it is, you will make it happen with the support of me and this vibrant writing community.
This is not one of those communities you join only to find that the “leader” hardly or never shows up. This is the hub of my offerings. I keep a close eye on the community, read your comments and respond to coaching questions and requests in the weekly audio retreat.
I also listen closely to what you are wrestling with and design the weekly experiences to offer support and opportunities to unstick and reflect anew.
My live retreats and one-on-one coaching cost thousands of dollars so The Writer’s Oasis is a super affordable way to get access to my teachings, support, ideas and general goofy quirkiness. The Writer’s Oasis is where I get to play and learn with you!
I’ve taken everything I’ve learned during my 25 years of experience befriending wonder, mystery and desire – and helping a million+ women do the same through my books, programs, and retreats – and transformed it into an ever growing virtual library that’s the just right blend of practical and spiritual teaching.
You’ll get access to the tools and insights I’ve created that serve as reminders and lifesavers to help you stay committed to your writing and your beautiful self… no matter what gremlins (inside or out!) try to take you out. Here’s a sample.
“What if I’m not a writer with a capital W?
Will this be relevant for me?”
We have all types of writers in The Writer’s Oasis. We have some who are novelists, poets, essayists and even copywriters. We love them all!
Another segment of writers includes individuals who run their own business and recognize the value that writing brings to it. Whether they’re writing their marketing collateral, blogging, or writing a thought leader book to help build their audience, fill their client book, or increase their speaking invites, they use writing to build and grow.
Finally, we have people who do not fall into either of those categories. These people would probably never identify themselves as writers with the capital W; however, they are avid journalers. They use writing to get clarity on their lives. They love how the prompts I share invite them to dig into thoughts, feelings and ideas that they could never access by mere thinking or talking alone.
So, as long as you value the practice and process of writing, you’ll love The Writer’s Oasis.
“I don’t need another PROGRAM – and I swore I wouldn’t sign up for another one. How is this different from all of the other programs gathering dust on my hard drive?”
Well, most importantly, this is not a program. It’s a weekly soul tune-up.
It’s a practical and spiritual home for your writing and whole life and it’s where you make time for your creative projects and dreams, but it is not a program.
It’s a place to feel and believe in the right to do your own creative work and to share that work if you wish.
It’s a place to fill up, to prioritize, to pull out of your creative unconscious the inspiration and courage you need to create a life you totally dig.
“How much time do I need to allot each week?”
It’s 100% up to you. Some members do every weekly and monthly writing session, attend every community call, listen to every weekly writer’s oasis audio retreat, and are active in the community. Some members commit to just ONE glorious hour per week (most weeks the audio retreats are about 40-50 minutes in length) and that is perfect for them to get what they need. (In addition to their writing time, of course!) Some do a little bit of both.
You get the picture: the Writer’s Oasis is designed to be super flexible, uber useful, and above all, to help you live the life you want, prioritize and get your writing done, all in the spirit of self-kindness and lightness!
"Are you going to help me get published?"
Not in the way you might be thinking. I’m not going to teach you about how to get published in a magazine or make a living as a published writer or how to land a book deal. There are endless sites and resources on how to do all of that. What I am going to help you do is remove the barriers that are currently getting in your way so you’re no longer afraid to publish, put your work out there, or share it with critical decision makers in your field or industry. That’s because in my experience of being a writer for 30 years and teaching and coaching writers for the past 25 years, it’s the head and heart stuff that keeps books and book proposals and poems and essays and articles hidden in drawers. Once we tackle that, opportunities to get your work in front of more people will show up more often than you can imagine. So, for our purposes here, when I talk about publishing it means publishing to your blog, submitting articles to magazines, guest writing, writing course content and delivering it, and shipping your work.
All that said, in our monthly writing calls, you can ask me any questions you want about traditional book publishing, self-publishing and more!
“Is there a money-back guarantee?”
I don’t want you to end up somewhere you don’t want to be - ugh. If you’re not sure if this is the right place for you, please listen to this free call. This is an example of the types of audio retreats I email to you every Friday morning and a perfect way for you to test out The Writer’s Oasis before you sign up.
When it comes to the YEARLY membership, we do NOT offer refunds. Or prorate your membership in any way. When it comes to a MONTHLY membership, we do NOT offer refunds for months already paid for; however, you can cancel your monthly subscription at any time and you won’t be billed for the following month. Joining as a monthly member is a great way to give it a test run! You can always convert to a yearly membership later and get two months free if you’d like.
“Is this only for writers who are stressed and struggling?
I hate whining groups.”
No! This is about thriving as a human and as a writer. This is about LIVING AND CREATING with no holding back! My work attracts successful, whip-smart, loving women who are actively working to create lives they love and to create in ways that light them up. We all have issues, fears, and struggles - and we talk about them - but our focus is not on repairing or moaning. It’s on creating! Learning! Risking! Stretching in humane, self-loving ways.
The Writer’s Oasis is an advice- and fixing-free zone. You can acknowledge, witness, support, encourage, and love your fellow members - and I hope you will, it’s so good to not be in the creative game alone! - but whining, opinionating, and giving people advice is not part of this community.
Refreshing, right? Yes it is!
“I’m not very tech savvy. Is the technology complicated?”
Not at all. Everything is easy to access and find right inside the membership site. Watch this quick tour.
And the technology to listen is super simple. Hit play right from the page or you download all the audios to your phone or computer and make a playlist. Plus, SoundCloud (the service we use) always remembers exactly where you left off. Say you listen to 10 minutes and then head off for your day? Well, the next time you’re ready for a Writer’s Oasis pick-me-up, it’s waiting for you, playing right where you left off. Time saved, frustrated averted. That feature combined with the detailed index we provide for each call ensures that you never waste time searching, you get what you need, and you get to your writing more often and with more focus! Or all the other scary sh*t you want to get done.
“I’m decidedly not New Age – will this be?”
No! You will never hear me say, “The Universe wanted me to…” Ha! I use science-based, well-researched practices, love precise and inspiring language, and share tools that are time-tested and work. That said, I’m an unabashedly wonder-struck gal so expect talk of gratitude, love, life living you, desire desiring you, I use lots of poetry, and I am totally goofy “wow, isn’t life amazing!” person and a complete optimist.
“I’m also decidedly not a woman. Am I allowed to join?”
The Writer’s Oasis is mostly populated with women. However, it’s not exclusive to women – all genders and gender identifications are open-heartedly welcome. I believe that EVERYONE can benefit from what The Writer’s Oasis has to offer. Who doesn’t need more time to step back from the craziness of life and listen long enough to hear what your heart desires? That’s a human need. So yes, this is not a women’s-only writer’s club and you are more than welcome to join the belonging.
“Okay, speaking of men and women, who is this for exactly?”
The Writer’s Oasis is for…
Emerging and working on getting it done writers
Writers who are coming back to it after years away
Writers switching to new genres
The person who has a strong desire to do more, accomplish more, and most of all, be present more
The person who’s being nudged to do less. To stop straining and pushing to do and allow more being - and consequently more writing - to emerge
The person who wants to live more boldly by what she desires. Who wants to avoid “should creep” (as in “I should…”) and gently welcome and work within her human limits and needs
The person who has a stunning and wonderful writing project she desires to complete, like a book, a proposal, a course, or something else that feels like scary sh*t and she isn’t getting done alone
The person who has no idea what to write or how to get started but who knows without a doubt that there’s a writer inside who’s got to get out
The person who last wrote in 8th grade and has wanted to ever since - and now’s the time!
The person who has a really hard time putting her own creative work first… ever.
The person who is lonely and wants to know, week after week, she is not alone in her creative longings and inklings and desires. She’s got a posse of creatives and we have each other’s back.
It is for anybody who makes sense of their life through writing. Who thinks by writing.
It’s for all of us writers who wish to seed a more just and more awake world. Who want to change our corner of the world.
If you’re one of these writers, welcome welcome!
I am so excited to create this with you!
“What if I can't join right now. Is enrollment always open?”
You are free to join the Oasis when it works best for you. Right now the cost is $20/month. I’m not sure when we will raise the price but it’s likely at some point we will as we add more and more extras over time and our costs increase with those extras; however, if you join now, you’ll lock in that rate for as long as you’re a member. So that’s nice, right?
“What if I have a question you didn’t answer?”
Please email my little team, Erin and Melani, at firstname.lastname@example.org and put The Writer’s Oasis question in the subject line so we don’t miss it.
